USBA Word for February

February 1, 2008

The word for this month is “self-disclipine”.

The dictionary lists two different, but important, definitions for “self-discipline”:

1) ability to control one’s feelings and to overcome one’s weaknesses

2) the ability to pursue what one thinks is right despite temptations to abandon it

But self-discipline is also an important concept in our martial arts training. We must show self-discipline in our work habits, and not let disappointments get in the way of our future successes. Let’s have a great month and use self-discipline to achieve Black Belt Excellence!
