Our recent Bruce Lee Exhibit was an incredible success! Special thanks to Shannon Lee, daughter of the martial arts legend, for sharing with us the life and memories of her famous father.

LAGUNA NIGUEL The chance to see Bruce Lee’s daughter and the martial arts icon’s personal memorabilia drew nearly 300 people the U.S. Blackbelt Academy Saturday afternoon.

Shannon Lee, 40, spoke about her father’s life and his philosophy. She brought along signed photos, books, and his original newsletters to display for fans. It was the first time the presentation and exhibit was held at a martial arts studio, U.S. Blackbelt Academy co-owner Rachel Kravitz said.

“It was a great opportunity for us to educate people on Bruce Lee, the martial arts, and what it does for people. What she talked about is the same thing we tell our USBA students: Do your best - follow your own path,” Kravitz said.

The U.S. Blackbelt Academy, in business for more than 15 years, trains about 500 students ages 4 to people in their 60s.

Thanks to all that visited and for our demonstration team for their fine performance.

What a great turnout we had…I would like to thank everyone who participated – I hope you had as much fun as i did !! It was great to see the new “Royce Gracie” action figure, now available at ToysRUs.

Big congrats to Brian Selvan, Langston Montgomery, and Sid Felczer on their promotions to Blue Belt…great job, gentlemen! We look forward to seeing Royce again soon…until then, keep training hard!!!

I would like to congratulate my close friend, Mr. Chris Robinson on his “President’s Award” for outstanding contribution to his community in Newmarket, Ontario, and to the Martial Arts field as a whole. He works tirelessly to promote the incredible benefits that the Martial Arts bring to the world. I’m very proud to have him as a friend.

We were also honored to receive the prestigious “Best Martial Arts School Award” this year. I would like to thank all of our incredible staff for this achievement, and more importantly, to thank our students. Without you all, we could never realize our dream of being a Professional Martial Arts School. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives.

Each summer for the past 5 years, we’ve had a Family Picnic at Doheny Park in Dana Point. It is a really fun event for the whole family!

This year will prove to be even better! We have lots of fun activities planned, including a balloon twister, a caricature artist, board breaking, tug-of-war, and 3-legged races. And don’t forget your water gun!!

USBA will provide all the hamburgers, hotdogs, condiments and paper goods. We only ask you bring a side dish or drink to share!

While teaching a number of key character traits including courtesy and integrity, martial arts stresses respect. In fact, martial arts begins and ends with respect and encourages students to apply this philosophy to all aspects of life. It teaches respect for one’s self, as well as towards others. In addition, martial arts teaches kids how to manage their emotions, how to set and achieve goals, how to overcome obstacles and most of all, how to hold themselves to high standards.

Martial arts students see improvements in strength, flexibility, speed and timing at every class and then with the help of their instructors, learn how to bring these results into the home, school and a variety of other social settings. Most importantly, they learn that through hard work any goal that they set is achievable.

Martial arts teaches students to deal with conflict, to help others in need, recognize negative situations, and to challenge themselves to be better tomorrow than they were today.

Remember, success is a journey, not a destination, and we all need to stay on a quest to be our best.
