Next Week is Spotlight Week

Mixed Martial Arts and Karate for Kids in Orange County Please note the following change to the May Graduation Ceremony schedule. For those due for promotion to their next belt rank this month, our Graduation Ceremony will be Friday night, May 22nd.

Lil’ Dragons (ages 4–6) 6:15–7:00pm
Juniors (ages 7–11) 7:00–7:45pm
Teens (ages 12–17) 7:00–7:45pm

Candidates for promotion will be examined during Spotlight Week, May 18th – May 21st, at their regular class time. Juniors, Orange Belts and above, and Lil’ Dragons, Green Belts and above, and all Teens, are REQUIRED to bring their safety gear (sparring equipment) during “Spotlight Week B-Day,” as we will be conducting the exam. Please make every effort to attend class regularly in the next two weeks, as well as the Graduation Ceremony… Remember Progress leads to Interest!

If you CAN NOT attend class in the next couple of weeks or will be out of town, please call us as soon as possible so we can make arrangements for your exam. If you are going to miss the Graduation Ceremony, there will be a makeup ceremony on Friday, May 29th at 5:00 pm. Also, on the 22nd, our regular Dream Team 6:50pm class will be canceled to make room for the Graduation Ceremony.

May is a Great Month for Moms at USBA!

USBA is proud to announce upcoming special events for May 2009! May is all about USBA moms!

Mom’s Night Out! – Treat that special Mom for Mother’s Day be dropping off the kids for the evening, Friday, May 8th, from 6:30pm–10:30pm. Limited spots are available for kids 5 years and older. Kids will enjoy games, pizza, movies, contests, and good, old-fashioned FUN!

Mother’s Day Workout – Don’t miss this opportunity to train with Mom at our special Mother’s Day Workout, on Saturday, May 9th, at 10am. This is your chance to show Mom everything there is to know about Martial Arts training!

Mother’s Day Essay Contest – Win a Mother’s Day Gift for your Mom! Write an essay telling us why your Mom is the BEST Mom! The top winners, by age bracket, will win a very special gift just for your Mom! Turn in your essay by Thursday, May 7th.

Winner or Whiner?

I have a very simple question for you to answer this month: Are you a winner or a whiner?

WINNERS are positive, optimistic, pro active and excited about their goals and activities in life…WHINERS are negative, pessimistic, re active and love to whine about everything and anything….

WINNERS develop self-discipline in order to bring out their absolute best in themselves and in others…WHINERS lack discipline of their minds and are often critical of themselves and others….

WINNERS condition their minds and bodies for Peak Performance in and out of the dojo…WHINERS blame others for their problems and always make excuses for Poor Performance in and out of the dojo….

WINNERS give value to others, they train hard and make a positive contribution to their team…WHINERS love to moan, groan and complain, and their negative attitude takes away from their team….

WINNERS brighten up a room when they enter…WHINERS brighten it up as they exit….
