Our third milestone in the construction of the new USBA Pride website…..USBA TV™ is on the air! But we’ve got much to do, and as you may have noted, we have begun the process of videotaping some of Master Kravitz’ instruction, especially during the evening Gracie Jiu-Jitsu classes.

My Recent Trip to Florida

February 8, 2008

I have had the opportunity to share with many of my students a brief story or two about my recent trip with Royce Gracie. We conducted a seminar in Florida for the benefit of law enforcement trainers, who were interested in learning the techniques of Brazilian Jui-Jitsu.

It was a great experience. The students were passionate about learning the skills – as you could imagine, their need for training is a daily need, and not a casual interest. These guys put their lives on the line every day in pursuit of our safety. Given their perspective on self-defense, it was very rewarding to hear how much they valued learning and employing the techniques of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.

Boxing Starts with Defense

February 1, 2008

Protect yourself! For starters, protect your face! Proper glove position is the first step to proper defense in sparring class. Of course, in the real world, defending yourself without gloves would be similar.

Hold your right hand close to your right cheek. I like to hold my left hand slight higher and slightly forward. Both hands should be turned inward, with palms facing each other. This enables you to punch with strength by rotating your hands inward when you throw your punches.
